Classes 1 and 5 will compete on Friday, while Classes 2, 3, and 4 will take to the course on Saturday morning. Last weekend, Kansas crowned its champions, setting the stage for a thrilling competition in Missouri this week.
In addition to cross country, Kansas is buzzing with boys soccer championships scheduled for this Saturday at various locations throughout the state. Meanwhile, Missouri is nearing the conclusion of its volleyball state tournaments, with teams competing hard for the top spots.
Football fans won’t want to miss out, as the playoff fields for high school football in both Kansas and Missouri will face some intense matchups on Friday evening. In volleyball, the Class 6A quarterfinals saw close matches, with Shawnee Mission East edging out Mill Valley 3-0 and Shawnee Mission West winning a nail-biter against Blue Valley West 3-2. In the semifinals, Dodge City and Shawnee Mission East moved onto the finals, with the championship held in Wichita at the Stryker Sports Complex.
For Class 5A, major achievements included Maize South pulling off an impressive 1-0 victory over Hays, while in Class 4-1A, Bishop Miege and Rose Hill advanced to the semifinals. All eyes are on Wichita this coming weekend as teams battle for the final championships in their respective classes.
