Exciting High School Football and Basketball Matchups Leave Fans Thrilled in Covington

Covington – The high school football scene was buzzing this past week with several exciting matchups that had fans on the edge of their seats.

In a thrilling display, St. Henry dominated Cincinnati Trailblazers with a final score of 62-30. The game, held at St. Henry, showcased a strong performance by the home team, who led 38-16 at halftime. St. Henry’s impressive offense included McIntire scoring 13 points and Reis contributing 11 points. The Trailblazers fought hard, particularly with Enders and Bradley, who managed to score 8 and 7 points respectively.

Another closely contested game featured Beechwood defeating Grant County 61-47, while Highlands cruised to victory against Scott with a score of 77-62. Newport also secured a win over Dayton, finishing 65-26. In a close encounter, South Oldham edged out Ryle 71-66.

In the girls’ basketball tournament, it was Notre Dame who took the lead over St. Ursula, wrapping up the game at 52-35. After a strong first half, Notre Dame’s Holtzapfel shined with a spectacular 20 points, while St. Ursula struggled to keep up.

The Middletown vs. Anderson match was a nail-biter, ending with Middletown narrowly beating Anderson 50-48. Riep was instrumental for Middletown, leading with 13 points.

In other notable results, Newport Central Catholic defeated Holmes with a score of 73-53, and Bishop Brossart edged past Badin 55-51. The outcome of the games displayed the competitive spirit among the local teams as the season gears up.

This weekend promises to bring even more action as these high school teams continue their campaigns. Fans are eagerly awaiting the next round of games to see which teams will rise to the top.
