Fort Mill is set to welcome the holiday season with the 77th Annual Fort Mill Christmas Parade, a cherished community event that promises to bring joy and festivity to all. The parade will take place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, starting at 11 a.m. in the heart of historic downtown Fort Mill.
The parade will commence at the intersection of Tom Hall and Unity Street and will wind its way through Main Street and North White Street, before concluding at Walter Elisha Park. This year’s parade is expected to feature a variety of attractions, including decorated floats, marching bands, and walking groups, ensuring a delightful experience for all attendees.
A highlight of the parade will be the appearance of Santa Claus, who will cap off the festivities with his traditional cheer. Families and children can look forward to experiencing the magic of the holiday season alongside Santa.
This year, entries are open to community groups, businesses, schools, and non-profit organizations. Interested participants must submit their parade applications by Friday, November 1, 2024. The entry fee is set at $20 for non-commercial participants and $35 for commercial entries. Notably, school organizations from York County can participate at no cost.
The parade will also be televised on Comporium Channel 705, offering individuals who cannot attend an opportunity to enjoy the event from the comfort of their homes. Filming will occur in front of the Fort Mill Fire Station on Tom Hall Street. Emcees will introduce each entry as they pass by, adding to the excitement of the day.
Judges will award trophies in various categories, such as Best Car, Best Golf Cart, Best Walking Group, Best Holiday Theme, Most Holiday Spirit, and Most Creative. Winning entries will be recognized during the Town Council meeting on Monday, December 9.
The Fort Mill Christmas Parade serves not only as a festive gathering for the community but also as an opportunity for local groups and businesses to showcase their creativity and holiday spirit. The event promises to be a heartwarming celebration that emphasizes community involvement and togetherness.
As the date approaches, be sure to mark your calendars and participate in the fun. For further details or to apply for an entry into the parade, interested individuals can visit the official Fort Mill town website or contact the Events Coordinator, Jacona Hester.
