Fort Mill, a cozy town known for its friendly faces and tight-knit community, is stepping up to help those in need. From hygiene products to baby formula, residents are coming together to lend a hand in this time of crisis.
As we navigate these trying times, the Fort Mill Police Department has established a collection point at 112 Confederate Street. They have been busy gathering essential items, and they’ve put out a call for help. They need essentials such as hand sanitizer, non-perishable food items, baby diapers and formula, trash bags, water, flashlights, and hygiene items. With the collection now ended, the community sure stepped up in a major way!
Nearby, the city of Tega Cay has also opened its doors for donations at the Glennon Center Meeting Room located at 15083 Molokai Drive. They are looking for hygiene essentials like soap, toothpaste, and toothbrushes, along with necessities such as socks, underwear, rain suits, Clorox wipes, and canned goods. They are making multiple trips to ensure every item gets to those in need.
York County’s future sheriff, Tony Breeden, is taking the initiative and is making multiple trips this week to distribute supplies. He has set up drop-off points at Lakewood Baptist, Matthew Construction, and Oakdale Baptist. Their needs include baby food, baby wipes, talcum powder, jerky, men’s socks, and even light supplies like batteries and flashlights. There’s a sense of urgency to gather water and meals ready to eat for those affected.
At Rock Hill Automotive, located at 1501 E Main Street, donations are being collected until Thursday evening. They are specifically asking for sports and hydration powders, baby wipes, bottled water, and even bug spray! It’s heartening to see so many businesses engage in community support.
Across town, the Legion Collegiate Academy is also collecting donations for diapers, wipes, and formula between September 30th and October 3rd. Parents and community members are encouraged to pitch in what they can.
Not all donations are about food and hygiene; the team at Bio-One Charlotte is gearing up a clean-up crew that’s headed to Asheville. They need supplies like bottled water, chainsaws, and gas cans. If you can help, they’re welcoming contributions and requests can be arranged through their Facebook page or by calling 810-955-8982.
As we continue to witness the incredible strength of our community, it’s important to remember that acts of kindness, no matter how small, can make a world of difference. The Sisk Baptist Church also saw its collection end recently with a variety of needs from socks to feminine hygiene products.
As for the Rock Hill Police Department, they have temporarily suspended their donation collection due to overwhelming support and have already dispatched officers to North Carolina with supplies. It’s truly heartwarming to see neighbors, friends, and volunteers come together during times like these, proving once again that when times get tough, the community shines brighter than ever.
So, if you’re looking for a way to pitch in, keep an eye on these initiatives, and consider donating any items you can spare. Whether it’s a pack of baby wipes or a case of water, every little bit counts. Every donation brings us one step closer to helping those who need it most. Together, we are making a real difference!
