Franklin Community Mourning After Tragic Loss of High School Football Player

The city of Franklin is in shock and mourning after a heartbreaking incident involving a local high school football player. Leslie Noble, a 16-year-old junior and a guard on the Indians varsity football team, suffered a medical emergency during practice on Wednesday morning. Tragically, he died shortly after collapsing on the field.

The team had just begun their first practice of the fall season, and conditions were mild with temperatures in the low 70s. Notably, the players were not in pads during the drills. Around 9:15 a.m., as practice started, Noble collapsed, prompting immediate attention from emergency medical personnel. Reports indicate they performed CPR on him before rushing him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

A parent who witnessed the incident described a chaotic scene shortly after practice commenced. According to their account, Noble was unconscious when the emergency call was made. Initial reports from Baltimore County police noted that a ‘player had a heatstroke’, raising concerns about the incident’s nature.

This incident echoes another similar tragedy that occurred in Alabama, where 14-year-old Semaj Wilkins passed away after collapsing at practice. Following this somber event, a representative from the Baltimore Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that Noble would undergo an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

The Franklin community is coming together during this difficult time, mourning the loss of a talented young athlete and remembering his contributions not only on the football field but also as a member of the school’s basketball team. Tributes are pouring in as friends, family, and teammates grieve the passing of a promising life cut far too short.
