A New Change for Galleria Mall

The thriving retail landscape of Rock Hill is set for an exciting new addition, substantially transforming the former Sears location at Galleria Mall. Broad River Retail, an independently owned and operated Ashley Store licensee and one of the most rapidly growing in the sector, is about to develop its 32nd store at this location.

Charlie Malouf, President and CEO of Broad River Retail announced via an official statement, “We are thrilled to introduce Ashley to the Rock Hill and York County community. This store is our first in the South Carolina submarket of the greater Charlotte metro region, and we are eager to service the thriving Rock Hill community.”

The New Concept

The new Ashley Store will showcase Ashley’s 7.0 store concept, featuring a contemporary open floor plan, an enhanced sleep gallery, stylish interior design elements in a 35,540-square-foot showroom. Conveniently situated adjacent to Interstate 77, on the eastern side of downtown Rock Hill, it will occupy a vital space, near the Belk at Galleria Mall on Dave Lyle Boulevard.

Manny Rodrigues, Broad River Retail’s Chief Operating Officer explains, “The retail corridor on Dave Lyle Boulevard continues to evolve and presents an incredible opportunity for our growth. We look forward to offering a variety of quality home furnishings and sleep products to this market as well as providing the best customer service in the industry.”

Investment and Development

Broad River Retail’s investment, exceeding $1 million, focuses on upgrading the building’s interior and parking lot. The remodeling is overseen jointly with the Warren Norman Co., which is currently responsible for managing the Galleria Mall. The new store will employ 15 Memory Makers.

Big Plans for Rock Hill

Anticipating the positive impact of the newly opened Ashley store on Galleria Mall, Warren Norman expressed excitement. “Furniture is a great addition to the tenant mix, and we think it will add great synergy to the mall. We have enjoyed working with Ashley and Broad River Retail and can’t wait for them to be a part of the Rock Hill community,” stated the broker-in-charge in an official release.

While Broad River Retail already operates nine Ashley stores and outlets in Charlotte metro and seven existing Ashley stores and outlets throughout South Carolina, the Galleria Mall location holds significant potential, attracting not only residents in Rock Hill but shoppers from the wider York County community as well, offering an elevated shopping experience.

Looking Ahead

The Ashley store in Galleria Mall, Rock Hill is projected to open in late summer 2024, with an official grand opening and ribbon-cutting celebration following soon after the initial opening. With commerce and consumers eagerly awaiting the new addition, the transformation of the former Sears location into the state-of-the-art Ashley Store is set to redefine the retail landscape of Rock Hill.
