Man Arrested in Rock Hill after Grocery Store Fight Ends in Shooting

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Yesterday afternoon, an altercation inside a local grocery store escalated to gunfire, leaving one man wounded and another behind bars. The incident, which took place around 12:30 PM at Adam’s Grocery store, ended with the arrest of 24-year-old Zamarri Carter.

The Incident

According to eyewitnesses, the conflict between the Carter and another individual, a 46-year-old man, initially began as a heated argument between the two men inside the grocery store on South Wilson Street. However, the verbal dispute rapidly escalated into a physical fight that eventually led to a gunshot being fired.

When the Rock Hill Police Department arrived at the scene following a distress call, they found the older man suffering from a gunshot wound in his abdomen. Despite his injuries, the victim was able to identify Carter as the shooter before being transported to a local hospital for emergency treatment.

Arrest and Charges

Shortly after the shooting, the Rock Hill Police Department deployed its Bloodhound Tracking Team, who successfully located Carter hiding at an address on Carolina Avenue Extension. Carter, now in custody, faces a slew of charges. These include assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes. Carter is currently being held at the Rock Hill Jail.

Community Response

The incident has left a community in shock and raised serious concerns about public safety. The grocery store, often frequented by locals, has never before been the scene of such violence, causing many residents to question the level of safety in their daily routines.

Meanwhile, police and local authorities have urged the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. They have emphasized that maintaining public safety is a shared responsibility, urging for stronger bonds between the community and the local law enforcement to prevent such incidents in the future.

Investigation Continues

While an arrest has been made in this case, the investigation by the Rock Hill Police Department is ongoing. They are currently working to establish the motives behind the altercation and shooting within the grocery store.

Authorities have asked for anyone with further information about the incident to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation. They have also advised any other potential witnesses within the grocery store at the time of the incident to report their accounts to the Rock Hill Police Department in order to help compile a more comprehensive timeline of the events that unfolded.

This incident is a grim reminder of the potential for violence in even the most mundane locations, and emphasizes the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement to maintain safety and peace.
