2024 High School Football Season Kicks Off with Thrilling Overtime Showdowns and Dominant Wins Across Alabama

Alabaster, Alabama – High school football fans across the state were buzzing with excitement as the 2024 season kicked off last night with a series of thrilling matchups. One of the standout games was the nationally televised showdown where Thompson hosted Grayson, Ga. on ESPN2. The game went into overtime, where Grayson narrowly edged out Thompson with a final score of 15-14.

Throughout the night, several other notable games caught the attention of local fans. Former Hoover coach Josh Niblett made his return to Alabama as Gainesville, Ga. dominated Moody with a score of 31-7. Additionally, fierce rivals Spanish Fort and Fairhope faced off, with Spanish Fort proving dominant in a 42-6 victory.

Other games on the slate included Gadsden City defeating Muscle Shoals in a wild one, 33-28. The thriller featured some late-game heroics and back-and-forth excitement. Parker also impressed in the Birmingham News Game of the Week, dismantling Ramsay 41-12.

Among the many scores that rolled in, highlights included a stunning performance by Gordo, who crushed Fayette County 62-12. The AHSAA Kickoff Classic also saw T.R. Miller tackle Reeltown with a comfortable 28-7 win.
