High School Football Playoff Highlights: Arizona Teams Battle for Semifinal Spots

This weekend, high school football fans in Arizona were treated to some thrilling playoff action. The quarterfinals for the Open Division and 6A, 5A, and 4A classifications were held on Friday and Saturday, with teams battling fiercely for a spot in the semifinals.

In the **Open Division quarterfinals**, Hamilton took on Marana, coming out on top with a score of **31 to 22**. Liberty dominated Higley, wrapping up the game with an impressive **64 to 26** victory. ALA Queen Creek edged past Desert Mountain with a close **20 to 14** win, while Basha defeated Horizon comfortably, finishing the match **36 to 14**.

The **6A quarterfinals** saw Brophy overcoming Perry with a strong performance that ended **31 to 13**. Mesa Mountain View made a statement against Salpointe Catholic, winning decisively with a score of **41 to 10**. Centennial also had no trouble with Casteel, emerging victorious at **37 to 14**. Queen Creek sealed their place in the next round by defeating Pinnacle, finishing the game with a score of **37 to 28**.

Action continued in the **5A quarterfinals**, where ALA Gilbert North dominated Campo Verde with a score of **42 to 7**. Cactus took down Raymond S. Kellis with ease at **21 to 6**. Verrado came out victorious against Buena, winning by a score of **41 to 26**, and Desert Edge finished strong with a **30 to 14** win over Tucson.

In the **4A quarterfinals**, Yuma Catholic faced Walden Grove and won with a score of **28 to 13**. Mica Mountain had a solid game against Thunderbird, winning **38 to 14**. Snowflake claimed victory over Prescott, with the final score sitting at **49 to 13**, while Arizona College Prep closed out Arcadia with a score of **35 to 14**.

Looking ahead, excitement builds for the **3A semifinals** at Mesa High, where two matches will take place: Pusch Ridge will face Benjamin Franklin at **6 p.m.**, and Thatcher will go up against ALA West Foothills at **2 p.m.** In the **2A semifinals**, scheduled at Westwood High, Scottsdale Christian will battle San Tan Charter at **6 p.m.**, while Pima will play against Tonopah Valley at **2 p.m.**
