High School Football Showdowns: Cincinnati Teams Shine Ahead of Postseason

High School Football Highlights from Greater Cincinnati

This week has been full of action as high school football teams in Cincinnati gear up for the postseason, while teams in Kentucky continue their last regular season games. Several local teams are putting on impressive performances, with shutouts and standout individual achievements.

The Lakota West Firebirds had a dominating victory against the Walnut Hills Eagles, shutting them out at 49-0. The Firebirds’ defense was relentless, allowing just 20 total yards, including a staggering -13 rushing yards. Notably, half of Lakota West’s ten wins this season have come from games where they did not allow a single point. On the offense side, Jackson Smith and Kenyon Norman led the rushing attack with 63 and 61 yards, respectively, both scoring touchdowns.

The Lakota East Thunderhawks also had a solid outing, beating West Clermont with a final score of 42-28. The Thunderhawks’ junior running back, Ryder Hooks, shined with his career-high 272 rushing yards and four touchdowns. The team combined for a hefty 528 total yards of offense, showcasing their offensive prowess as they pulled away in the second half.

Over in Newport, the Wildcats celebrated a 37-0 triumph over Holy Cross, wrapping up their regular season with two consecutive shutouts. Quarterback Kyle Lee completed 15 out of 21 passes for 226 yards and four touchdowns while also adding a touchdown run.

Meanwhile, Covington Catholic took an early lead against Campbell County, finishing strong with a 42-28 victory. Quarterback Cash Harney was efficient, completing four passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for another 103 yards.

In another impressive performance, Clinton-Massie restricted Roger Bacon to under 100 yards of offense, securing a dominating 41-7 win. Junior running back Peyton Warren led the Falcons with 69 yards and two touchdowns, and the defense continued to shine.

As the postseason continues for Ohio schools, many local teams are keeping an eye on their matchups with hopes for state championships ahead. With the hype building for next week’s games, all eyes will be on how these talented teams perform as they strive to make their mark in high school football.
