High School Football Highlights: Standout Performances and Key Matchups Ahead

Albany – High school football action was intense last week, with several standout performances showcasing the talent across the league. Among the highlights, Lucius Anderson from CBA shined bright in a dominating win against Colonie, scoring a whopping four touchdowns—two through the air, one on the ground, and one on the defensive side. The Brothers crushed Colonie with a final score of 69-13.

Meanwhile, over in Ballston Spa, Kala’i Makanani played a crucial role in a tight matchup against Queensbury. Makanani rushed 16 times for 129 yards and found the end zone three times, including a key fumble recovery to help the Scotties pull off a 28-23 victory.

From the losing side, Zavry Ward had an impressive game for Queensbury, finishing with 220 yards passing and three touchdowns. His teammate, Kasigh Gooden, caught seven passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns but couldn’t help his team overcome the Falcons.

Glens Falls had a remarkable performance against Lansingburgh, winning 49-7 thanks to Brody Holcomb, who completed 9 out of 12 passes for 244 yards and three touchdowns. Kellen Driscoll was also a standout, catching five passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns.

Not to be outdone, Brayden Deere from Gloversville rushed the ball 36 times for an astounding 270 yards and two touchdowns in a 20-7 win over Scotia-Glenville, while Landen Callahan from Schalmont sprinted for 196 yards and four touchdowns against Cohoes, leading to a 28-14 victory.

In the week ahead, some key matchups to watch will include Saratoga Springs at Shenendehowa and Queensbury at Columbia, both set for Friday evening. Fans are eagerly anticipating these showdown games as the season heats up!
