In the bustling city of Los Angeles, many top high school football recruits have been busy this summer, finalizing their college commitments as they gear up for the 2024 season. These young athletes took visits, received various scholarship offers, and made verbal commitments to their chosen colleges.
One standout athlete, Onyeagoro, first gained attention when he received an offer from Washington in January 2023. Over the next year, he collected numerous other offers before committing to Southern Methodist University in July. Onyeagoro chose the Mustangs over a competitive group that included schools like Florida, UCLA, and Washington. Prior to focusing on football, he made a name for himself as a basketball player at King/Drew. Quickly transitioning to football, he showcased remarkable skills, recording 61 tackles with 17 sacks and three forced fumbles during his sophomore year. Last season, he upped his game with 95 tackles, two interceptions, and a staggering 21 sacks in just 11 games.
Similarly, Iheanachor had a significant junior season as a two-way player for the Gauchos. This four-star linebacker compiled impressive stats, including 93 tackles, three interceptions, and two forced fumbles. On offense, he excelled too, rushing for 852 yards and scoring 12 touchdowns while also making 14 receptions for 246 yards and three more touchdowns. Like Onyeagoro, he also decided to commit to Southern Methodist University after gathering over 20 scholarship offers, which included Arizona State and Oklahoma.
Another player making waves this summer is Grant, who had an incredible breakout junior season at Gardena. He accumulated 1,008 all-purpose yards and nine total touchdowns, averaging nine yards a carry. His defensive contributions were notable as well, finishing with 35 tackles and three forced fumbles. After receiving an offer from Air Force, he confirmed his commitment to the Falcons following a visit to Colorado Springs in June.
Finally, O’Neal is heading to Narbonne for his junior year after spending time at Los Alamitos and Newport Harbor. As a top quarterback in the class of 2026, he gained offers from nearly 30 schools before opting for Oklahoma in June, surpassing other competitive choices like Florida State and Ohio State. In his sophomore year, O’Neal threw for 2,475 yards and 27 touchdowns while adding another three rushing touchdowns.
With commitments secured, these talented athletes are eagerly preparing for what promises to be an exciting high school football season in Los Angeles.
