In Class 6A, Westfield surged from No. 4 to No. 1 after a hard-fought 34-28 victory against the previously ranked No. 3 team, Center Grove. This comeback performance showcased Westfield’s resilience and determination, making a strong statement this early in the season.
On the other hand, defending champion Ben Davis faced heartbreak, falling to No. 8 in the rankings after a tough loss to Cathedral with a score of 24-6. The steep drop reflects the competitive nature of high school football and how quickly fortunes can change.
Meanwhile, in Class 5A, Merrillville climbed to the No. 1 spot after asserting itself with a commanding 27-0 win over Andrean. This reflects their strong performance and sets the stage for an exciting season ahead.
