High School Football Playoff Thrills: Key Performers Shine in Last Week’s Action

High School Football Highlights from Last Week

In Saratoga Springs, the excitement of high school football reached new heights last week with thrilling performances across the board. Teams showcased their skills in pivotal playoff games, and several players stood out as they made significant impacts on their respective teams.

Leading the charge was Archie Jones from CBA, who helped his team secure a victory over Saratoga Springs in the Class AA sectionals. Jones rushed for two impressive touchdowns and even threw a passing touchdown, showcasing his versatility on the field.

Marcus Snipes, the junior quarterback for Shaker, also delivered an exceptional performance, completing 7-of-12 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown, along with adding a rushing touchdown. He played a crucial role in helping the Blue Bison edge out Shenendehowa with a close score of 28-21 in the Class AA semifinals.

Despite the loss, Ihsann Alozie from Shenendehowa made headlines. The senior standout rushed for 147 yards and scored two touchdowns, in addition to returning an interception for a touchdown, but it wasn’t enough to outlast Shaker.

Steven Thomas from Colonie put on an impressive display against Bethlehem, completing 19-of-30 passes for 294 yards and tossing four touchdowns. His performance contributed to the Wolf Pack overcoming a 16-0 deficit, finishing the game at 33-29.

Colonie’s Brady Wyland also made his mark, catching seven passes for 89 yards and scoring three touchdowns in the same thrilling win against Bethlehem, demonstrating strong teamwork throughout the game.

In the upcoming week, teams will be gearing up for more exciting matchups. Notable games include Shaker facing off against CBA and Schuylerville going up against Cobleskill-Richmondville, both slated for this Friday.

As the playoffs continue, fans eagerly await to see who will rise to the challenge and advance further in the tournament. With players like Jones, Snipes, and Thomas leading the way, the excitement of high school football is certainly heating up!
