High School Football Playoffs Across Pennsylvania Heat Up

As the high school football playoffs progress in Pennsylvania, teams are giving it their all in their quest for a state championship. In the Class 6A semifinals on Friday night, St. Joseph’s Prep dominated Downingtown West with a final score of 36-7, advancing to the championship round.

The excitement doesn’t stop there, as the Central Catholic team, boasting an impressive record of 11-2, is scheduled to face Harrisburg (also at 11-2) on Saturday at Mansion Park in Altoona at 1 p.m. The winner of this match will face St. Joseph’s Prep in the championship held on December 7 at Cumberland Valley.

Meanwhile, in Class 5A, Friday night’s semifinals saw Bishop McDevitt coming out strong against Pine-Richland, winning 28-14. Additionally, Roman Catholic secured their place in the finals by defeating West Chester Rustin with a score of 41-17. Fans can look forward to the championship game on December 6 at Cumberland Valley between Roman Catholic (11-4) and Bishop McDevitt (13-2).

In Class 4A, Lampeter-Strasburg edged out Thomas Jefferson 20-16, while Monsignor Bonner-Archbishop Prendergast overwhelmed Southern Lehigh by a wide margin of 55-26. They will meet on Thursday for the championship at Cumberland Valley.

The Class 3A semifinals also took place, with Avonworth beating Penn Cambria 16-6 and Northwestern Lehigh securing a win against Danville with a score of 31-14. Their championship game is set for December 7 at Cumberland Valley, where Northwestern Lehigh (14-0) will take on Avonworth (11-3).

In the Class 2A playoffs, Central Clarion crushed South Park with a score of 55-0 while Troy took down Taylor Riverside 35-14. Both teams will battle it out in their championship game on December 6.

Finally, in the Class A semifinals, Bishop Guilfoyle triumphed over Muncy with a score of 21-6, and Port Allegany asserted their dominance with a victory against Fort Cherry, finishing the game 46-8. These teams will face off on December 7 in the championship.

As the playoffs continue, excitement builds among players and fans alike with the anticipation of championships just around the corner. Each game brings a chance for teams to make their mark in Pennsylvania high school football history.
