This past week was full of thrilling action on the high school football fields across the area. Numerous players showcased their talents in impressive wins, leaving fans excited for the upcoming matchups.
In Shaker, Jake Smith was a standout. The senior scored two touchdowns in the second quarter—one of them a spectacular 51-yard punt return. He rushed for 72 yards on just five carries and successfully converted all three extra-point attempts, helping his team secure a solid 34-6 victory over Guilderland.
Dylan Maychack from Columbia also made headlines with a remarkable 99-yard touchdown run that broke open a close game. His efforts helped the Blue Devils defeat La Salle 28-12.
Over in Averill Park, Jacob Phelps rushed for a stunning 131 yards and scored three touchdowns, all in the first half, leading his team to a 30-12 win against Amsterdam. Meanwhile, Jay Felio of Bethlehem was unstoppable, rushing for 144 yards and four touchdowns to help the Eagles clinch a 27-8 victory over Troy.
Apart from these performances, several other players had noteworthy games. Jordan Baker of Glens Falls ran for 198 yards and three touchdowns in a dominant 40-7 win against Hoosick Falls/Tamarac, and Le’Kye Ford from Lansingburgh contributed with four touchdowns while also leading the defense with 10 tackles to secure a 29-26 victory over Green Tech.
This week promises more action with key matchups, including CBA at Shenendehowa on Friday night. Fans are eagerly waiting to see if their favorite players can keep up the momentum!
