High School Football Season Kicks Off in Vermont

This week has marked the start of the 2024 Vermont high school fall football season. With teams eager to compete, fans have already witnessed some exciting matches across the state.

In a thrilling face-off, South Burlington secured a strong victory against Mount Anthony, winning 3-0. Star player Kyle Couture delivered an impressive performance, netting two goals, while Reese Gordon contributed with another goal and an assist. On the defensive end, Fiona Palisano racked up six saves for Mount Anthony but could not stop the barrage from South Burlington.

Another notable match had Fair Haven dominating Woodstock with a 6-0 scoreline. Maddy Perry and Leigha Kretzer were unstoppable, each scoring three goals. Meanwhile, Kate Hadwen stood tall with eight saves to keep Woodstock at bay.

Rice faced off against Milton in a high-scoring affair that concluded with a 5-2 win for Rice. Top performers included Andrew Greene with two goals and another player, Josh Rhoades, matching Greene’s effort with two goals of his own for Milton.
