High School Football Roundup: Impressive Performances Highlight Week
Albany – The high school football scene was buzzing last week, showcasing remarkable talent across the field. A standout performance came from CBA’s Archie Jones, who had an impressive night against Niskayuna. He completed 16-of-24 passes for a whopping 364 yards and forged four touchdowns. In addition, he found the end zone twice on the ground, leading his team to a decisive 47-6 victory.
Jones’ teammate, Lucius Anderson, made his presence felt too, catching six passes for 199 yards and scoring three touchdowns in the same game against Niskayuna. Meanwhile, Shaker’s Jake Smith dazzled fans with an 85-yard touchdown run and a 58-yard touchdown reception, helping the Blue Bison secure a 26-14 win over Averill Park.
Another incredible performance was delivered by Brady Wyland of Colonie. He caught ten passes for 205 yards and scored one touchdown, which guided the Wolf Pack to a thrilling 28-27 victory in overtime against Guilderland. On the other hand, DJ Mosher carried Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake to a 44-20 win against Bethlehem, rushing for three touchdowns in the process.
Zavry Ward, the quarterback from Queensbury, made headlines as well, throwing for 236 yards and two touchdowns, alongside 65 yards rushing, becoming the program’s all-time leader in passing yards. His team narrowly defeated Columbia with a score of 36-35.
