California High School Football Stars Make College Commitments Ahead of Exciting 2024 Season

Los Angeles, California – As the high school football season approaches, many of the top recruits in California have finalized their college commitments over the summer. Several standout players from the Los Angeles City Section have announced their choices, setting the stage for an exciting 2024 high school season.

One of the most notable players is Olu Onyeagoro, a linebacker who made significant strides in his recruitment. After starting with an offer from Washington in January 2023, Onyeagoro garnered numerous offers from across the nation. Ultimately, he chose to commit to Southern Methodist University (SMU) in July, turning down offers from prestigious programs including Florida, UCLA, and Washington. Onyeagoro was originally a basketball player at King/Drew before transitioning to football where he quickly made an impact. In his sophomore year, he recorded 61 tackles, 17 sacks, and three forced fumbles. Last season, he built on that success with 95 tackles, two interceptions, and an impressive 21 sacks in just 11 games.

Another standout is Tochukwu Iheanachor, a versatile player for the Gauchos. Showing excellence on both sides of the ball last season, he compiled 93 tackles, three interceptions, and helped on offense with 852 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. Iheanachor also made waves in the air, adding three receiving touchdowns. He, too, committed to SMU in July, edging out offers from Arizona State, Kansas State, and Oklahoma.

Then there’s Jordan Grant, who had a breakout junior season for Gardena. Grant tallied 1,008 all-purpose yards and nine touchdowns while averaging nine yards per carry. He also contributed defensively with 35 tackles and three sacks. After receiving an offer from Air Force in May, Grant announced his commitment to the Falcons following a visit in June.

Lastly, Dylan O’Neal is a promising quarterback heading to Narbonne after time at Los Alamitos and Newport Harbor. In just his sophomore season, O’Neal threw for 2,475 yards and 27 touchdowns, maintaining a completion rate of 61 percent. He also added three rushing touchdowns to his impressive stat line. O’Neal committed to Oklahoma in June, selecting the Sooners over other heavyweights like Florida State and Ohio State.

These players are just a handful of the talented recruits making waves this summer. With commitments set, they return to their high school teams focused on making a mark in the upcoming season.
