High School Football Updates: Tournament Results

As the high school football season progresses, teams across the region are showing their determination and skill on the field. In the latest round of the OHSAA Division II state tournament, several teams competed fiercely, with Alter leading the chart with a total of 598 points. Following closely were Ottawa Hills and Northwestern, coming in at 624 and 653 points, respectively. Chagrin Falls and St. Clairsville filled out the top five with scores of 654 and 659.

In individual performances, Finley Bartlett from Wyoming and Matthew Kreusch from Alter both tied for the top scoring title, each achieving an impressive score of 140. Their teammate, TJ Kreusch, wasn’t far behind with a score of 148. Other notable players this round included Gavin Gress from River View and Brock Montgomery from Upper Sandusky, who both finished at 150.

On the girls’ side, Columbus Academy topped the charts with a total score of 668, followed by Madeira at 695 and Garaway at 702. Leading the individual scores was Eva Lim from Columbus Academy with a score of 143, with Sophia Fink from CHCA closely trailing at 147.

In the KHSAA tournaments, the quarterfinals created some thrilling matches. Woodford County edged out Grant County 6-0, while Collins knocked out Simon Kenton in a dramatic penalty shootout. Notably, Notre Dame triumphed over St. Henry with a dominating 6-0 victory. Goals by Tully and Stegman helped seal that match, demonstrating ND’s strong offensive capabilities.

The tournament is heating up as teams gear up for what promises to be an exciting playoff season in both boys’ and girls’ competitions. Keep an eye out for next week’s games, as they will determine who continues on their journey toward championships.
