High School Soccer Highlights: Oxford Triumphs, Tolland Dominates, and Mercy’s Hat-Trick

In Oxford, the local high school soccer team secured a solid victory against Ansonia with a final score of 4-1 on Friday evening. Kevin Monticone led the charge for Oxford, scoring two goals, while Ryan Mizak and Gavin Shupp added to the score. Ansonia’s Jorge Aguilar managed to get one goal in, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide. With this win, Oxford improved their record to 7-4-2, while Ansonia fell to 1-8-3.

Over in RHAM, the team narrowly edged out South Windsor with a score of 1-0. Justin Dooley scored the only goal, leading his team to victory.

Tolland showcased a dominating performance against East Hartford, winning 6-1. Graham Nagardeolekar shone brightly for Tolland with two goals, contributing significantly to their success. Tolland’s record now stands at 8-3-2, while East Hartford struggles at 0-10-3.

In another match, Xavier cruised past Amity with a hefty 7-1 victory. Diego Canellas was a standout, scoring three times, supported by teammates Giancarlo Caserta and Ryan Quinn.

Meanwhile, the Danbury team had an impressive outing, defeating Bridgeport Central 6-0. Ava Thatcher scored twice, while the team showcased a strong defense, allowing no goals against.

Finally, the girls’ side was just as exciting with Mercy trouncing West Haven 8-2 led by Molly Benson’s hat-trick. These results highlight the significant talent and competitive spirit throughout the high school soccer leagues.
