The excitement is building in Arlington as high school sports teams gear up for a packed week of action starting Friday, December 13. With winter sports in full swing, fans can look forward to a variety of games and matches across the area.
This week will feature numerous boys basketball games, including a matchup between Jefferson and Yorktown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Oakton will take on Washington-Liberty at the same time. The girls teams are also in action, with Yorktown visiting Jefferson and Wakefield at South County, both kicking off at 7:30 p.m.
Swim and dive meets will see Langley competing at Wakefield on Friday at 6:30 p.m., while Washington-Liberty travels to Herndon for a 7 p.m. meet, and Meridian faces Yorktown at 6:30 p.m. These events showcase some of the best talent in swimming and diving in the region.
Wrestling fans can catch the Washington-Liberty team at the Sherando Tournament on Friday at 5 p.m. The weekend will also bring the Wakefield high school hosting a nine-team dual meet on Saturday morning, promising an exciting day for local wrestling enthusiasts.
Ice hockey is heating up with the boys’ team from Yorktown playing against Tuscarora at 9:20 p.m. in Leesburg on Friday, while Washington-Liberty faces off against Lake Braddock/Fairfax at 8:30 p.m. at the MedStar Capitals Iceplex.
As the week progresses, teams continue to compete across various sports including gymnastics, track and field, and more. With countless competitions scheduled, local sports fans have no shortage of events to support their teams.
With all of this action happening, it’s going to be an exciting week in Arlington high school sports, and the community is encouraged to come out and cheer on their teams!
