High School Volleyball Regional Championships Heat Up in Bel Air

On a chilly Wednesday night in Bel Air, high school volleyball teams displayed their talents as they battled for glory in various regional championships. The night was filled with thrilling matches and outstanding performances that kept fans on the edge of their seats.

The C. Milton Wright Mustangs delivered a strong performance by sweeping the Fallston Cougars in the Class 2A East Region I final with a score of 3-0. The Mustangs took the set scores of 25-21, 25-13, and 25-11. Leading the charge was Maddie Duffalo, who racked up an impressive 13 kills. She received solid support from Ana Mioduski, who contributed seven kills and four aces, while Olivia Kobb added six kills along with five aces. Jenna Ritz played a crucial role in orchestrating the offense with 28 assists.

In another regional final, the Carver A&T Wildcats triumphed over Western Tech with a 3-1 win, highlighted by set scores of 25-19, 25-22, 12-25, and 25-14. Meanwhile, the Howard Lions secured their own victory, taking down the River Hill Hawks in the Class 3A match with set scores of 25-10, 25-12, 21-25, and 25-20. Standout players for Howard included Kaleigh Williams with nine kills and five blocks.

Meanwhile, the Reservoir Gators cruised past Montgomery-Blair, winning their match 3-0 with set scores of 25-18, 25-18, and 25-19. Nina Amani-Dove and Tiana Copp were pivotal in the victory, each contributing 10 kills. The Gators showcased impressive teamwork and determination moving forward into the 4A state quarterfinals.

Patterson Mill Husky fans were thrilled as their team dominated Bohemia Manor 3-0, securing the 1A East Region I championship with convincing scores of 25-11, 25-19, and 25-14. Leading the way for Patterson Mill was Harlon Jones, who recorded 14 kills and seven digs.

Lastly, the Broadneck Bruins put on a solid display against Leonardtown, winning 3-0 with scores of 25-13, 25-19, and 25-15. Among their standouts was Sydney Lawrence, who led her team with 17 service points, five aces, and 16 assists.

As these teams continue to battle for the championship titles, the excitement is certainly building in the local volleyball scene.
