High School Volleyball and Tennis Recap: October 1, 2024

Lake Stevens had a strong showing in volleyball, defeating Lynnwood in four sets with scores of 25-22, 25-8, 27-29, and 25-20. This win brings Lake Stevens’ record to 4-2, while Lynnwood falls to 3-3. Laura Eichert was the standout player for Lake Stevens, landing an impressive 31 kills, alongside 15 digs and 1 ace. Jayci Scrivens contributed 14 kills and 11 digs, and Ella Iseminger made her mark with 14 digs and 3 aces. For Lynnwood, Sammy Holmer scored 14 kills and Ady Morgan dished out 24 assists.

Meanwhile, Edmonds-Woodway showcased their dominance by defeating Mountlake Terrace 3-1 with scores of 25-18, 25-21, 24-26, 25-16. With this victory, Edmonds-Woodway remains unbeaten in the league with a perfect record of 3-0 and an overall record of 6-0. Sawyer Hiatt led the charge with 18 kills and 4 digs. Mountlake Terrace currently holds a 1-3 record in the league and 2-4 overall.

In another match, Archbishop Murphy swept Meadowdale 3-0 with scores of 25-21, 25-20, and 25-14. Archbishop Murphy’s record now stands at 3-0 in the league and 6-1 overall, showcasing a solid performance from Laura Esping, who collected 6 kills and 13 assists.

In tennis action, Edmonds-Woodway beat Lynnwood 5-2 in an impressive outing. Steven Anderson and Nalu Akiona both secured dominant victories with scores of 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 respectively. Edmonds-Woodway’s record improved to 9-1, while Lynnwood stands at 5-4.

Mountlake Terrace also enjoyed success on the tennis court, defeating Marysville Getchell 7-0. This win puts Mountlake Terrace’s record at 3-6 overall, while Marysville Getchell falls to 2-6.

Moving forward, Lynnwood has their next volleyball match scheduled against Shorewood at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 3. Edmonds-Woodway will take on Meadowdale on the same evening at 7:00 p.m.

High school sports are heating up this fall, with each team eager to improve their standings as the season progresses!
