Hungry Heroes Gears Up for Annual Mike Doty Memorial Event
Feeding the Heroes while Commemorating a Fallen Comrade
In Rock Hill, the Hungry Heroes organization is busily preparing for its annual Mike Doty Memorial Event. Founded by Amanda Riggan, Hungry Heroes is a non-profit initiative dedicated to providing meals for the everyday heroes among us – people such as first responders and veterans.
The organization’s yearly Mike Doty Memorial event is a treasured tradition, aiming to both gather funds for its ongoing work feeding heroes and pay homage to Officer Mike Doty, who lost his life in the line of duty in 2018.
Bringing Together the Community
This year, the family-friendly event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 27th at the SC National Guard Training Center. The center is conveniently located at 123 Museum Road in Rock Hill, and the festivities will commence from 11 AM.
The event will feature a host of activities designed to appeal to community members of all ages. There will be BBQ plates on sale, ensuring attendants can savor a delicious meal while supporting a worthy cause.
More Than Just a Meal
In addition to the opportunity to enjoy some tasty barbecue, event-goers will also find Hungry Heroes merchandise available for purchase. The selection of merchandise will allow everyone to show their support for the organization and its mission even after the event has ended.

Above all, the event is about remembering and honoring the late Mike Doty. Officer Doty served with the York County Sheriff’s Office and was tragically killed during an on-duty incident in 2018. His commitment to the community is remembered and respected, making the event a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by first responders and military personnel.
