Idaho Prep Football Returns: 2024 Preseason Rankings Announced

BOISE, Idaho — Excitement is in the air as **prep football returns** to Idaho with a limited schedule kicking off this week. As teams prepare to take the field for the new season, an initial round of preseason rankings has been released, reflecting the expectations surrounding various classifications.

In the 6A category, Coeur d’Alene stands out as the top favorite, claiming the number one spot in the first Idaho high school football state media poll. They are closely followed by Rocky Mountain, Eagle, and Rigby, who are tied for third place. Notably, defending state champions Bishop Kelly and Sugar-Salem swept the first-place votes in their respective 5A and 4A classes, both coming off **undefeated seasons** last fall.

The 2024 rankings showcase the strength of teams across the state. In Class 5A, Bishop Kelly is the clear leader with nine first-place votes and a perfect record of 13-0 from last season. Skyline and Sandpoint follow, with Hillcrest and Skyview filling out the top five.

In the 4A division, Sugar-Salem also dominates the rankings with nine first-place votes, demonstrating their powerful performance last year along with Homedale and Kimberly, who are tied for third place.

Moving down to 3A, West Side takes the top spot after a successful season, while Kendrick shines in the 2A category as the number one choice, appearing as a strong contender for the upcoming season.

In the 1A division, Dietrich earned the unanimous title of favorite, suggesting they will be a formidable opponent as the season progresses. With **teams ready to give their best**, and fans eager for a thrilling season, Idaho prep football is back, and anticipation is building for what lies ahead.
