Boise, Idaho — The first full week of prep football in Idaho has led to some shifts in the latest state media poll, which was released on Tuesday. While the top-ranked teams in each classification held their places, several new squads are making their mark in the rankings. Teams such as Buhl (4A) and Raft River (2A) have entered their respective top fives, showcasing the evolving landscape of high school football in the Gem State.
Pocatello has also made its first appearance in the media poll after a tight victory over Skyview with a score of 29-23 in last week’s 5A matchup. As teams prepare for Week 2, a highlight of Friday’s games will be the contest between defending state champion and top-ranked Bishop Kelly and No. 4 Minico. After two consecutive wins, the Spartans are looking to inch closer to the top.
In the 6A rankings, strong contenders Rocky Mountain and Eagle currently sit at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Both teams began their seasons with successful outings last Saturday, with Rocky Mountain defeating Kuna decisively at 53-14, while Eagle took down Meridian 28-13.
