Indiana High School Football Rankings Hold Steady as Season Enters Week 5

Indianapolis, IN – For the first time this season, all six No. 1 teams in the USA TODAY Network Indiana high school football poll have maintained their positions for a second consecutive week. As the season heads into Week 5, the rankings reflect the ongoing strength of Westfield in Class 6A, Plainfield in Class 5A, New Palestine in Class 4A, Evansville Memorial in Class 3A, Lafayette Central Catholic in Class 2A, and North Judson in Class A.

Released on Monday, the new poll displayed consistency among the top-ranked teams. Each of them showcased impressive performances in their previous games, solidifying their standings. The rankings are determined by statewide media members and highlight the competitive nature of Indiana’s high school football.

In addition to the top seeds holding steady, there are seven new teams that have entered the top 10 across the six classes heading into this week. For instance, Carmel dropped out of the rankings this week despite being in the top 10 previously. Others receiving votes included Fishers, Elkhart, and Penn.

In Class 5A, the standings remain unchanged as well, with no teams dropping from the top 10. However, Castle and Bloomington South made appearances in the receiving votes category, showing emerging talent.

Notably, in Class 4A, pending updates suggest that NorthWood fell out of the rankings after holding the No. 10 position last week, while teams like Garrett and Fort Wayne Bishop Luers have gathered votes, indicating their potential climb in the following weeks.

As the season progresses, the excitement builds for fans and players alike. With each week presenting its own challenges and opportunities, it will be interesting to see if these top-ranked teams can continue their streak or if new contenders would emerge as the playoffs approach.
