Iowa High School Football Season Finale: Week 9 Highlights and Playoff Anticipation

Tonight, in Iowa, excitement fills the air as we’re wrapping up the regular season of high school football. It’s Week 9, and teams in Classes 5A, 4A, and 3A are finishing their last games before heading into playoffs. The atmosphere is electric as fans gather for the final matchups, and those in 2A, 1A, A, and 8-player are diving into their first playoff games.

As the games unfold, we eagerly await the announcement of playoff matchups for the largest classes, expected to be released around 10 a.m. tomorrow. The night has brought a flurry of action on the field. Among the notable scores:

  • Norwalk pulled off a close win against Glenwood, finishing at 29-26.
  • Lewis Central dominated Dallas Center-Grimes with a solid score of 49-8.
  • Waukee Northwest was in complete control over Ames, leading 50-6.
  • Pleasant Valley and Linn-Mar went head to head, with Pleasant Valley coming out on top, 35-21.
  • Waterloo West edged out Ottumwa with a score of 28-21.

Meanwhile, other matches included Benton securing a victory against Williamsburg, 21-0, and MOC-Floyd Valley defeating Sioux City Heelan by a score of 49-21.

The thrill didn’t stop as the night continued. Teams kept battling it out, with Cedar Rapids Prairie holding off Iowa City West, finishing with a close score of 28-21. In another contest, PCM beat Des Moines Christian decisively, 41-19.
