Kaukauna Shines in Regional Semifinals
Kaukauna – In an impressive display of skills, the third-seeded Ghosts made quick work of the Terrors in the regional semifinals, securing a convincing victory with scores of 25-13, 25-14, and 25-6. This win propels Kaukauna’s record to 27-8, while Appleton West wraps up their season at 2-22.
Madison Tripp showcased her talent with a double-double performance, recording 15 assists and 10 digs. Her teammates also stepped up, with Delaney Ward leading the charge with seven kills and Keira Plate contributing five kills. Boe Kaschner was solid in defense with five digs to help keep the Terrors at bay. Kaukauna will now face off against sixth-seeded Green Bay Southwest in a matchup scheduled for Saturday.
Meanwhile, in Appleton, the Lightning continued their postseason push by defeating the Hornets in straight sets, winning 25-23, 25-15, and 25-14. Coach Steve Scheuerell expressed pride in his team’s execution, emphasizing the importance of “survive and advance” in the playoffs. The Lightning’s record now stands at 17-20 as they prepare to face off against Xavier, who holds a 25-15 record.
Elsewhere, the Rockets from Neenah notched a sweeping win against the Golden Raiders, with set scores of 25-12, 25-11, and 25-14. The Rockets will now host Oshkosh West in the regional final after their win over Hartford.
In another regional match, Xavier decisively swept the Hawks 25-19, 25-20, 25-18, advancing to meet Appleton North. With a well-rounded lineup, Sydney Neilitz led Xavier with a standout performance, totaling 29 assists.
As the regional finals approach on Saturday, anticipation is building for an exciting conclusion to the playoff battles. Local teams are pumped to showcase their skills and compete for a coveted spot in the next round of the state championships.
