In a significant win for the South Carolina Gamecocks, they’ve officially added Malik Clark, a four-star wide receiver, to their 2025 recruiting class. Hailing from Rock Hill, SC, Clark is not just one of the top talents in the state, but he’s also an impressive athlete, choosing the Gamecocks over offers from well-known programs like Florida State, Colorado, North Carolina, and Arkansas. This commitment marks an exciting chapter for both Clark and the Gamecocks as they aim to build a competitive team for the future.
Malik Clark isn’t your average high school athlete. He’s excelling not just on the football field, but also on the track. As a junior, he showcased his speed and talent, finishing third in the 100-meter dash at the South Carolina 5A state meet with a blistering time of 10.62 seconds. He also snagged the Upper State title in the same event, clocking in at 10.55 seconds. On top of his performance in the 100 meters, Clark qualified for the state championships in the 200 meters too, with notable wind-aided times of 21.52 seconds and 21.63 seconds, and a wind-legal time of 21.79 seconds. These numbers definitely underscore his lightning-fast athleticism!
But let’s not forget his earlier years! In his sophomore season, Malik finished fifth in the state finals for the 100 meters with a time of 10.90 seconds, and seventh in the 200 meters, clocking 22.00 seconds. The numbers get even more impressive when we look at his freshman year, where he posted swift times of 11.13 seconds for the 100 meters and 22.36 seconds for the 200 meters. Clearly, this young man is a force to be reckoned with!
On the football field, Clark had a remarkable junior season, racking up 46 receptions for a whopping 800 yards and scoring nine touchdowns while helping lead his team, Rock Hill, to the first round of the playoffs. Not only did he shine as a wide receiver, but he also stepped in defensively, playing some snaps at cornerback. His achievements did not go unnoticed, as he earned a spot as an All-Herald second-team selection, reflecting his all-around capabilities on the field.
Clark joins a growing list of talented wide receivers in South Carolina’s 2025 recruiting class. The Gamecocks have been hard at work securing commitments from notable players, including Gidron. They are also in hot pursuit of another rising star, Donovan Murph, who has recently moved from the 2026 to the 2025 class. With prospects like Clark and others in the pipeline, the Gamecocks seem to be sharpening their offensive edge for the seasons ahead.
The coaching staff is dedicated to strengthening their roster, and with Malik Clark officially on board, the excitement is palpable among fans. The aim? To build a dynamic team that can compete fiercely at the highest levels of college football.
