Rock Hill, S.C. – A man was taken into custody on Thursday for allegedly being involved in a fight and shooting another man inside a local grocery store. This unsettling scene unfolded at Adam’s Grocery Store, situated on South Wilson Street.
The call to Rock Hill Police came just after 12:30 pm, with the caller reporting two men engaging in a violent altercation inside the store. In the ensuing chaos, one of the assumed participants produced a firearm, shooting the other before fleeing the scene.
Upon arrival, police discovered a 46-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Despite his injuries, the victim managed to identify his assailant before he was taken to a nearby hospital for immediate medical assistance.
Regarding the suspect, the Rock Hill Police Department (RHPD) Bloodhound Tracking Team apprehended 24-year-old Zamarri Carter at a location on Carolina Avenue Extension. Carter was detained and transported to Rock Hill Jail, where he was served with multiple charges.
According to supporting documents from the RHPD, Carter’s charges include assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm by an individual convicted of certain crimes.
