In a major drug seizure, investigators from the York County Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit (YCMDEU) impounded approximately 6 pounds of meth in Rock Hill. This significant bust stemmed from a simple traffic violation.
The operation unfolded after a grey 2022 Ford F150 was observed committing a traffic violation. Subsequently, YCMDEU investigators initiated a traffic stop. During this stop, they discovered around 4 grams of methamphetamine along with a handgun in the truck.
A more detailed search of the vehicle led investigators to a significant find – approximately 2989 grams, or roughly 6.5 pounds, of methamphetamine. This sizable amount of drugs was masterfully concealed within an unobserved void in the truck.
Following this discovery, two individuals were detained. 44-year-old Thomas Aaron Hurt and 34-year-old Alison Clance from Georgia were arrested on charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute (PWID) Methamphetamine and Unlawful Carry of a Firearm.
This traffic-stop-turned-drug-bust is a notable achievement for Rock Hill, reflecting the perseverance and skill of the York County Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit. Their sharp observation and due diligence led to the detention of two suspected criminals and the confiscation of a substantial amount of meth and a firearm.
The fight against drug traffic is an ongoing operation in Rock Hill and the wider York County. Constant vigilance from law enforcement officers like those from YCMDEU are crucial to ensuring the safety and welfare of local residents.
This incident underlines the critical role that law enforcement plays not just in maintaining law and order, but in the tireless pursuit of justice itself. It’s clear this will likely serve as a lesson for other potential offenders and act as a strong deterrent against illegal activities in the region.
