NCAA Delivers Notice of Allegations to University of Michigan Amid Connor Stalions Sign-Stealing Scandal

Ann Arbor, MI – The NCAA has officially delivered its full Notice of Allegations (NOA) to the University of Michigan concerning the Connor Stalions sign-stealing scandal. This significant event was first reported recently, confirming that the organization is following through with its investigation. The details surrounding this scandal have been one of the biggest stories in sports this season.

The NOA arrives just two days before the premiere of a Netflix documentary titled “UNTOLD: Sign Stealer”, signaling this situation is gaining public attention. The allegations stem from claims that Michigan employees, particularly Stalions, were engaged in advanced scouting that violates NCAA rules. Specifically, it is alleged that they scouted at least 13 upcoming opponents on over 58 different occasions between 2021 and 2023.

Connor Stalions, an assistant coach, resigned earlier this year after the scandal became public. Following his departure, another assistant coach, Chris Partridge, was fired. The fallout continued with Jim Harbaugh, the team’s head coach at the time, receiving a suspension for the final three regular season games. Sherrone Moore took over coaching duties during Harbaugh’s absence, leading the team to an undefeated season and ultimately, a national championship.

The NCAA has indicated that they will not release any specific details about the allegations to maintain the integrity of the investigation. They confirmed that Michigan and all involved parties received the formal document. Additionally, there had been previous reports suggesting that Sherrone Moore might face penalties due to accusations of deleting important messages linking him to Stalions. However, it remains unknown whether this particular point is still part of the allegations.

Michigan is currently navigating through various challenges. Just weeks ago, they were handed penalties related to recruiting violations during the COVID-19 recruiting dead period, resulting in a one-year suspension for Harbaugh, along with other consequences.

As the investigation proceeds, the university and its football program will be in the spotlight, waiting for clarity on the allegations laid out in the NOA. Understanding and addressing these issues are crucial as Michigan aims to maintain its integrity in the world of college football.
