Missing 77-year-old found ‘alive and well’ in York County

ROCK HILL, S.C. – In a fortunate turn of events, a 77-year-old man from York County who was reported missing has been found ‘alive and well,’ confirmed the authorities. The individual, identified as Robert Davis, has been taken to the hospital for an evaluation following his retrieval.

A Silver Alert was released for Davis promptly after his disappearance on Sunday, August 17. Consequently, a team of search and rescue experts set up a command post opposite Northwestern High School in York County to facilitate the search.

Rescue Efforts

Due to deteriorating weather conditions and approaching darkness, the search mission had to be put on hold around 8 p.m. on Sunday. However, rescue operations resumed in full swing near Davis’s residence on Monday morning, predominately guided by York County Sheriff’s Office.

Updates provided by the Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Davis was found in good health and his condition was being checked by the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) before taking him to the hospital for a comprehensive check-up.

Missing Davies

Before his disappearance, Davis was seen last at his residence on Belaire Drive in Rock Hill. With his wellbeing in question, the York County Sheriff’s Office, alongside several other agencies, was out for hours across multiple nodes of the county. Their robust search network comprised dozens of individuals split between ground and air units.

We were determined to conduct thorough searches near businesses located around Rock Hill and York, shared Trent Faris from the County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday. He further added, “We utilised all our resources to our best capabilities; from summoning SLED’s helicopter for an aerial view to roping in our mounted patrol unit to scour the grounds. The common goal uniting us all was to ensure Mr. Davis was brought home safe.”

Wrap-Up Thoughts

The swift and precise actions consolidated by the York County Sheriff’s Office, and the ancillary agencies certainly reflect their unwavering dedication to the welfare of the county residents. In the broader perspective, this incident underlined the significance of community vigilance, coordination between various intervention agencies and the deployment of technology in ensuring that the lost are found and restored to their families.
