Monroe, WA – In a thrilling high school football matchup on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the Monroe Bearcats emerged victorious over the Meadowdale Mavericks with a final score of 58-48. The game featured a back-and-forth battle, but Monroe managed to hold onto their lead through four quarters.
The scoring shook out with Monroe taking an early advantage, finishing the first quarter at 21-6. Meadowdale fought back and scored 15 points in the second quarter, narrowing the gap as the teams headed into halftime with Monroe leading 36-17.
Individual standout performances were key for Monroe with Chayce Waite-Kella leading the charge by scoring 18 points. His contributions, along with Wyatt Prohn‘s 12 points and Kieran Greear‘s 8 points, helped secure the win despite a strong late-game push from Meadowdale.
Meadowdale didn’t go down without a fight, with Khalil Botley18 points and both Natnael Ghirmay and Noah Million9 points each. The Mavericks outscored the Bearcats in the final quarter 20-11, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the earlier deficit.

In other action, the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors continued their strong season by defeating the Kamiak Knights 66-44. The Warriors now hold a record of 3-0 and will face Lynnwood on Friday, December 13, at 8 p.m. Snohomish secured a win against Lynnwood 57-30.
