Mountlake Terrace Claims Overtime Victory Over Shorecrest

Mountlake Terrace, WA – In a thrilling matchup that kept fans on the edge of their seats, Mountlake Terrace High School edged out Shorecrest with a score of 19-16 in overtime on Sunday, September 29, 2024. With the game tied at 13-13 after regulation time, both teams were eager to grab the win in this Wesco 3A South clash.

Shorecrest started off overtime with possession, managing to score a field goal to take a brief lead at 16-13. However, the Hawks quickly regrouped, responding with a game-winning touchdown to secure their victory. With this win, Mountlake Terrace improved their league record to 2-0 and overall to 3-1, while Shorecrest now holds a record of 1-1 in league and 3-1 overall.

Mountlake Terrace’s quarterback, Mason Wilson, completed 8 of 19 passes for 97 yards and added 60 rushing yards along with a touchdown. Owen Boswell was a key player on the ground, carrying the ball 17 times for 81 yards and scoring a touchdown as well. In receiving, Nate Brown led with five catches for 60 yards.

Liam Moore contributed significantly as well, converting 2 out of 2 field goals, with his longest being 33 yards, adding one extra point following a touchdown. The defense was anchored by Cody Ekanayake, who recorded 9 total tackles.

In other notable matchups, Meadowdale defeated Edmonds-Woodway 34-27, while Shorewood dismantled Lynnwood with a commanding 49-7 score. Meadowdale’s next game will be against Shorecrest on Friday, October 4, at 5 p.m. Meanwhile, Mountlake Terrace will face off against Monroe on the same day at 8 p.m. at Edmonds Woodway High School.

Overall, it was an exciting weekend for local high school football, showcasing the talent and competitiveness in the league as the season progresses.
