CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The National League of Cities (NLC), the voice for America’s municipalities for the past century, will make a stop in Charlotte on Wednesday, June 19 as part of its 100th anniversary celebration roadshow. Over the past 100 years, the NLC has been a steadfast advocate for cities and their residents. To commemorate this major milestone, NLC representatives will be traveling across the United States in an eco-friendly bus tour, shining a spotlight on the vital role cities play in our nation.
During the Charlotte stop, NLC representatives will experience a portion of daily life in the Queen City. Activities will include:
To get a firsthand look at Charlotte’s public transit system, NLC representatives will ride the Lynx Blue Line light rail, exploring one of the city’s key transportation modes. This experience will give them valuable insights into the city’s efforts to provide efficient and sustainable transportation options for residents.
NLC representatives will have the opportunity to visit various neighborhoods and communities in Charlotte, interacting with residents who contribute to the vibrant tapestry of the city. By engaging with local communities, the NLC aims to gain a deeper understanding of the unique challenges and successes that define Charlotte.
During their visit, NLC representatives will meet with local leaders, non-profits, and organizations that play a pivotal role in serving the Charlotte community. These meetings will provide a platform for collaborative discussions on how cities can continue to thrive and address the evolving needs of their residents.
