NCAA Football Rankings Shakeup After Week 7

This week in Austin, Texas, there were significant changes to the latest AP Top 25 college football rankings, following an exciting Week 7. Only teams in big matchups faced tough losses, but overall, the rankings reflect some interesting shifts.

Currently, Texas holds the top spot, managing to fend off Oregon with a gap of 51 points. The Longhorns had an impressive victory over ranked opponent Oklahoma, winning decisively 34-3 in the storied Red River Rivalry. Their quarterback, Quinn Ewers, showcased his skills in his return, making a notable impact.

Oregon, meanwhile, climbed to the second position after narrowly defeating the then-No. 2 Ohio State by just one point at home, which pushed the Buckeyes down to No. 4. The remaining teams in the top five are Penn State at No. 3 and Georgia at No. 5.

An interesting twist came from LSU, which jumped five places to enter the top 10 at No. 8 after overcoming Ole Miss. Iowa State also made its way into the top 10, moving up two spots to No. 9. The top ten is completed by Miami at No. 6, Alabama at No. 7, and Clemson at No. 10. The SEC is notably strong, having four teams represented in this top tier, although Tennessee dropped to No. 11.

This week’s rankings saw Army and Navy entering the listings, replacing Utah and Oklahoma after both teams faced losses. Navy, starting the season at 5-0, gets to celebrate being in the top 25 for the first time this season, while Army celebrated a dominant 6-0 record and the longest active win streak at 10 games.

As the NCAA season progresses, it’s clear we are in for some thrilling matchups ahead. Be sure to keep an eye on the upcoming games as teams continue their quest for higher rankings and bowl eligibility.
