Today in Waxhaw, we’re thrilled to share the exciting news about a vibrant new spot for fashion lovers! Iris & Poppy, a stunning dress boutique, recently opened its doors to the public, and the celebration is still buzzing around town.
As we welcome this change in our community, the weather today starts off a bit foggy, transitioning to a lovely partly cloudy afternoon with a high of 81°F. For those who enjoy a brief sprinkle, there’s a slight chance of a rain shower. So, whether you’re planning to swing by Iris & Poppy or just enjoy a stroll around the town, grab your sunscreen and your umbrella just in case! By tonight, expect cooler temperatures, dipping down to a cozy 63°F.
On September 6, the charming Iris & Poppy held its grand opening, complete with a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony. Owner Rhonda Pimentel and her daughter Grace welcomed everyone with open arms, along with local officials and a lively crowd eager to check out what the new boutique has in store. The shop is beautifully located at 100 E. South Main St., perfect for a little retail therapy!
Walking into Iris & Poppy is like stepping into a world where fashion meets family. Rhonda has created a space that resonates with warmth, perfect for grandmothers and granddaughters, couples, and mothers with their daughters. It’s a place where you can discover that one-of-a-kind dress or an eye-catching outfit for any occasion, including the much-anticipated homecoming dance. One of the most heartwarming stories shared was when both a mother and daughter walked out wearing the same dress—what a special bond!
Rhonda’s love for the history of Waxhaw shines through in every corner of her boutique. The building itself boasts a rich charm with its tin roof, slate fireplace mantle, brick walls, and wooden floors. You can truly feel the heritage while browsing through the carefully curated selection of mid- to high-range products like stylish Scout bags, delightful Capri Blue candles, and trendy Lulu-B clothing.
Eager and passionate about her venture, Rhonda received the keys to Iris & Poppy on July 15, and she rolled up her sleeves for four weeks of hard work alongside her daughters. They transformed the space into a welcoming boutique that reflects her vision perfectly. “It has to be friendly and comfortable,” she emphasizes, adding that everybody is welcome to come in and feel at home while exploring stylish options.
As you may not know, this isn’t Rhonda’s first rodeo. Before moving to Indian Trail, she and her late husband ran a successful business together, meaning this boutique is a new chapter filled with memories of the partnership they cherished. “Iris” represents February’s birth flower, and “Poppy” symbolizes August, so it’s like carrying a piece of her past into this new venture.
Rhonda hopes to build Iris & Poppy into a beloved staple in the Waxhaw community. The response from locals has been overwhelmingly positive, with many stopping in just to chat and admire the store as it came to life. “It has been everything I dreamed, and the community has been outstanding with their support,” she shares joyfully.
Curious to explore? Iris & Poppy is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The boutique is closed on Mondays, so plan your visit accordingly. If you have any questions or want to inquire about their collection, you can reach them at info@irisandpoppy.com.
Whether you’re on the hunt for your forever dress or simply want to support local businesses, make sure to stop by and say hello to Rhonda and Grace at Iris & Poppy. This boutique is more than just a shopping destination; it’s a place to make memories!
