New Wrestling-Themed Brewery Set to Open in Rock Hill Next Summer

New Brewery Set to Open in Rock Hill

Rock Hill is gearing up for a vibrant addition to its local brewery scene with the upcoming launch of Three Count Brewing, a wrestling-themed brewery founded by friends Taylor Hamrick and Nate Mallard. The venture aims to transform from home brewing into a full-fledged brew house and taproom, projected to open by next summer.

Who is Behind Three Count Brewing?

The duo, who have long shared a passion for craft beer, graduated from Northwestern High School and later attended the College of Charleston. Their friendship flourished over shared interests in beverages, and they are now ready to bring that love to Rock Hill.

What is Three Count Brewing?

Three Count Brewing will operate from a property they purchased on Cherry Road, covering about half an acre with a 5,800-square-foot warehouse. The brewery will offer a variety of standard lagers and ales inspired by German and other European styles. Hamrick, the self-identified “beer traditionalist,” has already formulated several recipes that are available online. A small kitchen or food truck concept will accompany the taproom, though menu details are yet to be finalized.

Where Will It Be Located?

Located at 148 and 150 Cherry Road, the site is ideally positioned across from a large parking lot for Winthrop University, between the university and the District Three Stadium. This area has been largely unused for about a decade, described by Mallard as “an eyesore” and now set for a much-needed redevelopment.

When Will It Open?

The founders are currently navigating city approvals to kick off the construction of the brewery, hopeful to begin in the first quarter of next year. If all goes as planned, the taproom could be welcoming guests by summer.

Why It Matters to Rock Hill

This new brewery not only represents a personal milestone for Hamrick and Mallard but also aligns with a broader redevelopment trend in Rock Hill. The city has seen a revival of old structures, including the likes of the Lowenstein Building and The Power House, restoring them into functional and vibrant community spots rather than opting for new constructions.

With the YoCo Brew Trail already boasting more than a dozen breweries in York County, Three Count Brewing is set to enhance the local craft beer culture. The founders aim to create a space where Rock Hill residents can gather and enjoy quality brews, similar to various local establishments that have successfully fostered a community atmosphere.

The synergy between their wrestling theme and the brewery concept aims to provide a unique experience that draws in fans of both activities. As craft breweries continue to rise in popularity, Three Count Brewing looks forward to contributing to Rock Hill’s growing reputation as a craft beverage destination.
