Exciting High School Football Rankings Change in New York
As the high school football season heats up in New York, changes in the top-25 rankings show a lot of action after just two weeks. Several teams have made big strides, with three schools jumping into the top 10 and six teams entering the On3 Massey Ratings New York top 25.
Notably, St. Francis and Canisius have climbed into the coveted top five as we head into the second weekend of September. The On3 Massey Ratings, known for its use during the BCS era, ranks teams based on game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory, giving fans a clear picture of where teams stand nationally.
Several exciting matchups are on the schedule that could shake up the rankings this week. For example, Bergen Catholic from New Jersey will visit the number one ranked Iona Prep. After a tough start to the season, Iona bounced back with a strong 44-20 win against Springfield Central, but this week’s game will certainly be a challenge.
Another interesting game features St. Joseph Regional visiting Archbishop Stepinac. Stepinac hasn’t scored much this season and sits with an 0-2 record, while St. Joseph is coming off a solid win against Seton Hall Prep.
In a showdown between DePaul Catholic and Cardinal Hayes, both teams are eager to build momentum. Cardinal Hayes finally secured its first win last week, and the team looks to continue that success.
Additionally, the defending state champions Somers had a nail-biting victory against Ramapo and now prepare for a matchup with Yorktown, who is looking to build off of their recent win.
Finally, Canisius, led by standout player Elijah Kimble, will face Washington from Ohio. This matchup will be crucial as both teams are eager to prove their rankings.
With these matchups, it’s clear that the New York high school football scene is heating up, and fans can expect more shakeups in the rankings as teams battle it out on the field.
