NFL Investigates Steelers’ George Pickens for Eye Black Violation Amid Controversy

Pittsburgh is buzzing with news as the NFL looks into a potential rules violation committed by Steelers wide receiver George Pickens. Reports surfaced that during the recent game against the Dallas Cowboys, Pickens was seen sporting eye black that contained an explicit message. The phrase “Open F—ing Always” was reportedly visible when zoomed in on during the “Sunday Night Football” broadcast, prompting the league to launch an investigation.

The NFL has strict rules stating that players are not allowed to display personal messages on their uniforms unless those messages have received prior approval from the league. In light of this, an investigation was deemed necessary. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the situation when questioned about the message, stating, “I don’t know what messaging you’re talking about.”

Fines related to such violations are expected to be made public on Saturday, which may include consequences for Pickens if it is determined that he broke the league’s messaging policy. During the same game, which ended with a narrow 20-17 victory for Dallas, Pickens also found himself in a bit of a physical altercation with Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis after the final whistle.

After the game, Lewis was heard calling Pickens “weak” as he headed into the tunnel. Comments like these highlight the fierce competitive nature present in the NFL. As for Pickens’ performance in the game, he was limited to just three catches for 26 yards, playing only 34 snaps—his lowest count ever in a game.

So far this season, Pickens has recorded 23 receptions for 310 yards over five games. His rookie season last year saw him break the 1,000-yard mark, catching 63 passes for a total of 1,140 yards and five touchdowns. With such talent, fans will be watching closely to see how this investigation unfolds and if it impacts Pickens’ performance moving forward.
