NFL High School Football Season Kicks Off with Thrilling Matchups

This past Friday night in Erie, the excitement was palpable as the 2024 District 10 high school football season began with a bang. From the opening whistle, teams battled fiercely, showcasing impressive talent across the field.

In the early highlights, Blayze Myers connected with Baby Porter for a touchdown as McDowell took a commanding lead over Woodland Hills, going up 7-0 with just 7:44 left in the first quarter. Meanwhile, Rylan Harwood’s impressive running continued to shine as he scored another touchdown for Seneca, helping his team pull away from Saegertown with a final score of 35-7.

The Fairview team dominated Slippery Rock, ending the game with a resounding win of 35-0. This match marked a significant moment for Coach John Angerer, as it was his first win in a big game, adding to the excitement of the night.

In a closely contested affair, Sharpsville edged Girard 26-23. The match took a turn when Sharpsville fumbled shortly after Girard’s touchdown, giving Girard a chance to score on the Sharpsville 25-yard line.

Late in the fourth quarter, Harbor Creek managed to squeeze past Oil City, finishing with a score of 13-6. Tobias Vahey’s 6-yard run in the final minutes secured the victory.

As the night progressed, several other games wrapped up, including Reynolds defeating Eisenhower 15-0 and New Castle overcoming General McLane with a close score of 34-22. Not to be overlooked, Iroquois claimed victory against Cochranton, finishing strong with a score of 40-6.
