Omaha Marian Volleyball Shines at Lincoln Northeast Invite, Clinches Championship with Convincing Victory

Omaha, NE – The Omaha Marian volleyball team put on an impressive performance over the weekend, winning the Lincoln Northeast invite while showcasing their skills on the court. The Crusaders, ranked No. 9 in Class A, faced off against the Class B No. 6 Waverly in the championship match and secured a convincing victory, sweeping the Vikings in two sets, 25-15 and 25-21.

In the first set, Omaha Marian established control early on, taking a sizeable lead of 19-12 at one point. However, the second set proved to be more challenging. Waverly came out strong, jumping to a quick 7-2 lead, which prompted an early timeout from the Crusaders. Following the timeout, Omaha Marian regained their composure and pulled ahead, managing to take a 19-18 lead and ultimately winning the set and clinching the match.

Also competing in the tournament, Class A No. 10 Lincoln North Star struggled throughout the day, losing both of their matches. They faced off against Waverly first, falling in a closely contested match that ended with scores of 25-22, 24-26, and 15-25. Lincoln North Star’s tough day continued as they lost their second match against Class B No. 9 Gretna, with scores of 25-23, 22-25, and 23-25. In that match, Gretna’s Elle Heckenlively notably led the team with 11 kills.

The host team, Lincoln Northeast, managed a split outcome, finishing with a 1-1 record for the day. They lost their first match to Lincoln Standing Bear in yet another tight contest, with scores of 24-26, 25-16, and 17-25. However, the Rockets bounced back impressively with a 25-19 and 25-17 win over Lincoln Southeast in their final match.

As the high school volleyball season continues to progress, fans and players will be eagerly watching to see which teams rise in the ranks.
