In a significant move to enhance the nationwide hydrogen infrastructure, OneH2, a premier sustainable hydrogen solutions provider, has declared its expansion into South Carolina. The firm has announced the establishment of its maiden operational facility in York County, claiming it as a milestone in its ongoing U.S. expansion strategy.
The investment in the new facility, estimated to be around $16 million, is projected to create upwards of 87 new jobs by the end of 2026, according to a recent news release from the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
OneH2’s new industrial facility is located at 6199 Highway 57 in Clover, with a vast space of 246,091 square feet. This space is set to function as a manufacturing hub and storage site for hydrogen fuel equipment.
Swapnil Revankar, OneH2’s Vice President of Product, communicated his exhilaration over the company’s continued growth. “Our existing manufacturing facility in North Carolina is already operating at maximum. By opening this new facility, we will be able to scale our production and grow our hydrogen equipment footprint across the U.S. at a rapid pace,” he said.
Established in 2015 and headquartered in Longview North Carolina, OneH2 is renowned for its innovative designs and manufacturing of a range of products. These include hydrogen production units, vehicle powertrains, fuel systems, and distribution equipment. Catering to the North American industrial vehicles market, the company provides cost-effective power solutions.
OneH2 aims to facilitate a nationwide hydrogen infrastructure network to make the transition to hydrogen fuels easier and more cost-efficient. Current operating facilities are spread across California, Michigan, Ohio, and North Carolina. The addition of the South Carolina facility is a significant step in creating a wider U.S. footprint.
The operations at the new facility are slated to come online in stages, starting from the first quarter of 2024 with the initial workforce. Full workforce operations are expected to be completed by 2025.
Christi Cox, Chairwoman of York County Council, welcomed OneH2’s investment in the local community. “This expansion into SC signals a boost to our local economy and underscores York County’s appeal for innovative businesses. We eagerly await OneH2’s contributions to local growth and prosperity,” she said in the release.
