Exciting High School Football Talent Shines in Oregon

As the anticipation builds for the Oregon high school football season, our series highlighting players to watch in 2024 continues with Part 9. With an impressive roster of talent expected to light up the fields this year, it is clear that Oregon is brimming with budding football stars.

Leading the charge is Halstead, who earned recognition as a 5A all-state second-team selection last season. Showcasing his defensive skills, he recorded a team-high 65 tackles, including nine for loss, and helped the Colts significantly in their quest for success.

Another standout is Kuenzi, who made waves during his first full season with the Cougars, earning a spot on the 4A all-state first team. He rushed for an impressive 1,644 yards and 21 touchdowns, aiding his team to reach the state quarterfinals.

Moving on, Olson also made his mark last year, finishing with 94 tackles and three interceptions for his 4A semifinalist team. He shone equally on offense, catching eight touchdown passes among 48 receptions that totaled 653 yards.

In the world of quarterbacks, Blair appears poised to lead the charge after the departure of star Kallen Gutridge. With a stunning season behind him, where he passed for over 3,000 yards and 39 touchdowns, his performance is something fans won’t want to miss.

The accolades continue with Thurman, the 2A offensive player of the year, who astoundingly rushed for 2,958 yards and found the end zone 44 times last season. This achievement helped elevate his team to a state title.

Additionally, Ingle stands out with his defensive prowess, earning 5A first-team all-state recognition with a total of 93 tackles, contributing to the state champions. With players like Teeney and Simmons showcasing strong offensive and defensive skills as well, the coming season points to fierce competition.

The list goes on, as Wusstig and Lopez continue to build their reputations, along with numerous others vying for top slots on their respective teams. The Oregon high school football scene is undoubtedly rich with talent, making for a thrilling upcoming season.
