Penn Yan Academy Faces Tough Loss in High School Basketball Matchup Against Waterloo

On a snowy Wednesday evening, Penn Yan Academy welcomed Waterloo for an exciting high school basketball matchup. The weather was mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers throughout the night, resulting in chilly temperatures in the low 30s. Despite the weather, fans filled the stands to cheer on their teams. Wind gusts reached up to 40 mph, making it a brisk night for the players.

In the boys’ game, Waterloo triumphed over Penn Yan Academy with a final score of 60-47. The game saw impressive performances from several players. Waterloo’s Brandon Lee and Hayden Willett both scored 12 points, while teammates Cam Jacobs, Dylan Caraballo, and Carter Peterson each added 10 points. For Penn Yan Academy, Anthony Condella stood out with an impressive 22 points, followed by Matthew Tones who scored 11 points.

Waterloo improved their record to 3-0 and will host Greece Odyssey on December 9 at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, Penn Yan Academy is now 0-1 and will look for their first win against Haverling on December 6 at 7 p.m.

In other local action, Lyons dominated Marion with a blowout score of 105-17. Lyons’ Jamire Johnson led the scoring with 22 points. The team will face North Rose-Wolcott at home on December 11.

For girls’ basketball, Marcus Whitman defeated Geneva with a score of 59-22. Maddie Daggett of Marcus Whitman had a strong game with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 steals. Both teams will be back in action soon, looking to make an impact in their upcoming games.

As the basketball season progresses, fans are excited to see how the teams will perform in the coming weeks. With more games ahead, there will be plenty of chances for teams to show their skills on the court.
