Montgomery, Alabama — Several high school football games have been changed due to the impact of Tropical Depression Francine. The storm, which made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 2 hurricane on Wednesday, has since weakened as it moves inland over southern Mississippi. Unfortunately, it has caused some weather-related disruptions in Alabama.
One of the most notable changes includes the game between Percy Julian and Russell County, which was originally set for Thursday at Cramton Bowl. This match has now been rescheduled for noon on Saturday. The schools and coaches are hoping that the weather will improve by then so players and fans can enjoy the game safely.
Additionally, Columbia’s home game against Hartselle, which was supposed to be held at Milton Frank Stadium in Huntsville, has also been adjusted. This game will now take place on Friday at 3 p.m., allowing the teams to compete despite the adverse conditions caused by the storm.
Another game affected is the clash between Cullman and Jasper. This matchup will now be played on Friday night at 7 p.m., according to information provided by Jake Winfrey. These changes aim to keep everyone safe while still allowing the teams to participate in their scheduled matches.
As rain bands from Francine are expected to bring potential weather troubles throughout Alabama, coaches are encouraged to notify if there are any additional changes to game schedules. They can reach out via email to ensure updates are shared promptly.
Fans are reminded to stay safe as they support their teams during these challenging weather conditions. With the storms on people’s minds, the excitement for high school football remains strong among communities.
