Riverdale Baptist Emerges as a Top Contender in Maryland High School Football
Riverdale, Maryland – After an impressive 28-18 victory over the previously top-ranked and No. 3 Good Counsel, Riverdale Baptist has officially made a statement in the high school football scene. The team, which may have flown under the radar during the preseason, is now being discussed as one of the most talent-rich teams in Maryland. Following this week’s win, Riverdale Baptist has climbed to No. 3 in the latest Top 25 Maryland High School Football Rankings.
Last week, Riverdale Baptist managed to stun the reigning Washington Catholic Athletic Conference champions, showcasing their strong roster and solid teamwork. Sophomore quarterback Kash Carter threw two touchdown passes, significantly contributing to the team’s success. The victory over Good Counsel marked a pivotal moment in their season, putting the team on the map as a formidable competitor.
This week’s rankings have other strong contenders making waves as well. Archbishop Spalding holds onto the top spot after a 45-0 victory against then-No. 7 McDonogh School last week, while St. Frances ranks second despite a narrow loss to Texas powerhouse Duncanville. Good Counsel, now sitting at No. 4, lost to Riverdale and will be looking to bounce back in their next game against defending PIAA 6A state champion St. Joseph’s Prep.
Riverdale Baptist now looks forward to their upcoming game scheduled for September 27 against No. 13 St. Mary’s Ryken. As the season progresses, eyes will be on Riverdale Baptist to see if they can maintain their momentum and assert themselves as Maryland’s top football program.
As always, high school football remains unpredictable and exciting, and this recent win has definitely put Riverdale Baptist on everyone’s radar.
